Visual Pattern Detectibility - Channels
Detectibility is assessed on multi-channel measures of mismatch
between target & its local background
Channels are vision-processed images
Computed from projection of 3D surfacesto2D pixels for a viewer
Channel structure is motivated by knowledge of the early
components of the early (pre-attentive) human visual system
Color Opponency (combinations of Cone fundamentals)
Temporal (Motion) Filtering
Measure for temporal bandpass (motion) channels is summed
absolute excitation
Measures for temporal lowpass (static) channels:
Mean mismatch- |MeanTgt2 - MeanBkg2|
Variance mismatch - |VarTgt - VarBkg|
Texture mismatch, gauged by Gaussian Markov random field
(GMRF) metric
